About Us

The Susquehanna Community School District, located at 3192 Turnpike Street, Susquehanna, PA 18847, serves a rural community across Susquehanna and Wayne Counties in Pennsylvania. Encompassing approximately 101 square miles, the district caters to a population of about 4,650 residents, as per the 2020 United States Census. ​

The district operates two schools:​

Susquehanna Community Elementary School: Serving grades PK-6.​

Susquehanna Community High School: Serving grades 7-12.​

As of the 2023 academic year, the district educates approximately 783 students, with a student-teacher ratio 13:1. Notably, 74% of the student body is identified as economically disadvantaged. ​

The district's mission is to provide a safe, inclusive educational environment that inspires students to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to become contributing members of society. Its vision emphasizes educating all students in a safe, healthy environment to think reflectively, act with compassion, and lead with honor and integrity, achieved through collaboration among highly qualified teachers, families, and the community.

The district is governed by a Board of Education comprising representatives from three regions within the district. These regions include municipalities such as Susquehanna Depot Borough, Lanesboro Borough, Oakland Borough, Oakland Township, Ararat Township, Harmony Township, Starrucca Borough, Thompson Borough, and Thompson Township.
