ACCOUNTING I/EXCEL: Accounting I provide students with a good understanding of the business world.  (Students will spend time doing computerized accounting and spreadsheets).   The course is essential for those who wish to own their own business or to further their study of business.   We will learn how to set-up an accounting system for a small business and for a partnership.   The student is exposed to many areas of business including marketing, customer relations, advertising, the stock market and finance.

 

ACCOUNTING/II/EXCEL:  Accounting II is a study of accounting applications utilizing computers.  This course covers depreciation, inventory, and accounts receivable, accounts payable and financial statement analysis.  Students will spend time creating spreadsheets with Microsoft   Excel and using financial management software.

 

INTRO TO BUSINESS:  This courses covers the Pennsylvania academics standards of Science and Technology, Economics, Geography, Civics and Government, Family and Consumer Science, Reading , Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Career to Work.  This course will introduce students to the following business operations: small-business management, banking and investing, consumer and business decision making, and business careers.  Students will participate in simulations, listen to guest speakers from the world of business, and tour a local business.  Students should view this course as an opportunity to explore any interests associated with a future in business. 

 

MICROSOFT OFFICE XP 9:  This course will cover the Proposed Pennsylvania Academic Standards of Science and Technology, and introduce the basics of word processing, spreadsheets, database construction and management, electronic presentations and the Internet using Office XP.    This class provides hands-on operation using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Explorer in a Windows environment.

 

ADV MICROSOFT OFFICE XP:  This course will cover the Proposed Pennsylvania Academic Standards of Science and Technology, the course is designed to further computer skills using applications such as advanced word processing, spreadsheets, database construction and management, electronic presentations and the Internet.  This class provides hands-on operation using Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Explorer, in a Windows environment using Microsoft Office XP.

 

DESKTOP PUBLISHING/WEB:   This course will cover the Proposed Pennsylvania Academic Standards of Science and Technology.  An advanced layout and design course using Aldus PageMaker and Microsoft Front Page. Time will be spent on the design and construction of web pages.   Students will also produce a variety of desktop publishing application projects, which include business cards, tri-folds and newsletters.    This class is particularly useful for those students interested in yearbook, journalism or graphic design.   Students should have keyboarding and word processing skills before enrolling in the class.

 

CAREERS:  This forty-five (45) day course will cover the Proposed Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Career Education and Work.  This course is designed to help students analyze careers and related interests based on student’s abilities and aptitudes.  Students will analyze and  explore traditional and non-traditional career and employment opportunities.  Students will demonstrate what it takes to acquire and retain a job.  Students will also apply entrepreneurship and other business principles.
